Experiences and exhibits
that stretch the imagination

Flying with Rays

 – By Justin Stichter, project manager

Last year my family and I had the great privilege of living in Orlando, FL – Celebration, FL to be exact. We spent just shy of 15 months in the Sunshine State and took every advantage of all she had to offer. Our freetime was filled with lazy days at the beach, playing at the neighborhood pool, and of course – theme parks!

Looking back I have tried to calculate my family’s year in terms of attractions and discovered the following:

  • 250 days in 17 different themeparks
  • 50 days at 10 different area beaches
  • Swam with dolphins, rays, and fish
  • Collected 5,000 seashells
  • Held penguins – literally
  • Watched at least 30 firework shows
  • Observed snakes, gators, otters, owls, vultures, hawks, turtles, and lizards in their natural habitat
  • Discovered sea turtle eggs at the beach

To say the least it was an insane year filled with all kinds of fun. However, if I had to pinpoint one day or event in particular that stood out from all the rest, it would have to be our day at Discovery Cove.

This was by far the most inclusive, laid back, and enjoyable day we experienced as a family. There was something for everyone and the experiences we shared together were unlike any other we have had to date. If you have only one day in Orlando, this is the place to spend it.

My words can’t adequately begin to explain or describe our day, so I have included some photos and a video.
