The Cincinnati Zoo's baby hippo Fiona greets an interpreter

America’s relationship with traditional authorities is evolving into distrust – as illustrated by the obsession with ‘fake news’ and the growing concern about animal welfare. AZA’s research has even indicated a slight downturn in the American confidence of its member institutions.

Zoos and aquariums must face this challenge head on – rebuilding the public’s confidence. But what steps can we take to rebuild this trust? Part PechaKucha, part workshop, we’ll examine market research about affecting perceptions, case studies illustrating how some institutions have tackled this challenge, and brainstorm specific actions you can take to enhance trust and expand market potential.
