Discovery Cove
The opening of SeaWorld’s Discovery Cove in 2000 sent ripples of wonder through the attractions industry and its ardent guests. An all-inclusive resort in America? Singular! An underwater walking tour with brilliant reef fish and stunning sharks? Astounding! Swim with dolphins? Life changing! These and many other innovations in guest experience, animal care, and family relaxation, combined with the accessibility and comforts of an Orlando attraction, raised expectations for immersive marine resorts.
PGAV was involved in every step of Discovery Cove’s design. From day one, we knew that a major goal was to offer guests the opportunity to interact closely with animals. This inspired groundbreaking innovations in marine habitats and the development of a free-flight aviary with over 250 tropical birds.
Our partnership with Discovery Cove continued with our design and debut of The Grand Reef in 2011, which includes snorkeling with eagle rays, and the Freshwater Oasis in 2012, an island habitat for white-headed marmosets nestled within a stunning guest pool.
