AZA’s On the Boards: Africa, at the Oklahoma Zoo and Botanical Garden

As part of AZA‘s annual On the Boards session, PGAV Destinations Vice Presidents Emily Howard and John Kemper will showcase the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden‘s African region, currently under renovation.

The Oklahoma City Zoo is renovating an 11-acre area in the heart of its park into a world-class, welcoming entry and spacious African savanna. This newly reimagined habitat will provide an expanded habitat for giraffe, eland, okapi, ostrich, painted dog, cheetah, red river hog, and lemur, among several other species. An existing pachyderm habitat building, a historical and architectural treasure at the Zoo, will be renovated into a multipurpose event space, small animal habitat area, and kids play area, all overlooking the savanna. The project is scheduled to open in late summer/early fall 2022.
